Your Framekit Subdomain

Understand and customize your free Framekit subdomain

Your Framekit Subdomain

Every site on Framekit gets a free subdomain that you can customize. This is your site's address on our platform.

What is a Subdomain?

A subdomain is the first part of your site's URL. For example, in yoursite.framekit.co:

  • yoursite is your subdomain
  • framekit.co is our domain

Choosing Your Subdomain

Guidelines for a Good Subdomain

  • Keep it short and memorable
  • Use your brand name or a relevant keyword
  • Avoid numbers and hyphens if possible
  • Make it easy to spell and type

Changing Your Subdomain

  • Go to Settings > General
  • Find the Subdomain field
  • Enter your new subdomain
  • Click Save
  • Note: Changing your subdomain will change your site's URL. Any existing links to your old subdomain will stop working.

    Subdomain Availability

Subdomains must be unique across all Framekit sites. If your preferred subdomain is taken:

    • Try adding your location (e.g., bakery-nyc)
    • Add a descriptive word (e.g., janes-bakery)
    • Use abbreviations (e.g., jb-bakery)

    Using Your Subdomain

Your Framekit subdomain is perfect for:

    • Testing and development
    • Personal projects
    • Getting started quickly
    • Sites where a custom domain isn't needed
