Publishing Your Site

Once you're happy with your site, it's time to make it live! Here's how to publish your site and make it accessible to the world.

Understanding the Action Button

The button in the top-right corner of the editor changes based on your site's current state:

  • "Publish" - Appears when your site has never been published. Click to open the publish panel with preview and publishing options.
  • "Update" - Appears after your site is published. Click to see update options and preview.
  • "Add domain" - Appears when your site has a subdomain but no custom domain configured.

When you click the button, a dropdown panel appears where you can:

  • Preview your site in a new tab (works even before publishing)
  • Enter your subdomain and click "Publish Site" to make your site live for the first time
  • Click "Update" to push your latest changes to an already-published site
  • See your live site URL and when it was last updated
  • Copy the preview link to share with others

First-Time Publishing

  • Make sure you've configured your subdomain in Settings > General
  • Click the "Publish" button in the top navigation bar
  • Your site will be published to your Framekit subdomain (e.g., yoursite.framekit.co)
  • A confirmation will appear with your live site URL
  • Updating Your Published Site

After making changes in the editor, the button will change to "Update":

  • Click the "Update" button to push your changes live
  • Changes typically appear within seconds
  • Visitors will see the updated content immediately
  • The button only shows "Update" when there are unpublished changes to your site.

    Previewing Your Site

Before publishing or updating, you can preview your site:

  • Click the "Preview" option to see your site as visitors will see it
  • Test all pages and functionality
  • Check how it looks on different devices
  • Return to the editor to make any final adjustments
  • What Happens When You Publish

    • Your site becomes publicly accessible at your chosen subdomain
    • Search engines can start indexing your content
    • Any links you share will work for visitors
    • Your SSL certificate is automatically configured for secure HTTPS

    Before you can publish, ensure:

    • Your site has at least one page with content
    • You've set a subdomain in site settings
    • Your account is in good standing

    Unpublishing
